DAY 18 June 11, 2009

Well all good things must end. After lunch prepared by my sweet little granny lady, I hit the road. I stopped at Comfort Cellars (Comfort, TX) to sample their interesting offerings and ended up purchasing jalapeno wine. That's right! Wine made from the fruit of the jalepeno pepper.

I drove into Fredericksburg and went to the Herb Farm (shop was closed). The lady at the Fredericksburg Winery convinced me that it was not the Cabernet grape that I disliked, but rather its preparation. I really liked their Cabernet. I ended up purchasing two bottles of wine from them. I checked out the two visitor centers-the main one at 302 E Austin was fantastic! I found a flyer for a little place in town and decided that I had had enough of the heat (record setting) for one day.

The proprietors at the tiny Frederick Motel were delightful, both at check in and check out. The room was small, but quaint. It was more like a bed and breakfast than a 60 year old motel. I liked the little touches. The only thing I did not like was the tiny shower that was blocked by the sink.
